4 Steps to Live Courageously Today

How can I break the cycle of fear, worry, negative thoughts, and anxiety? These simple steps can give me courage and power today.
1. WAIT. Practice deep breathing for 90 seconds. During that time, banish all negative thoughts. Instead, focus on God. Consider what He did for His people in the Bible. Remember how powerfully He has blessed my life.
Psalm 46:10
Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations. I will be exalted in the earth.
2. LEAD. Remember the inspiring story of Joshua, who led the children of Israel. Uplift and restore my energy by memorizing and reciting this verse.
Joshua 1:9
Haven’t I commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Don’t be afraid. Don’t be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.
3. SNAP. Snap a screenshot of every Bible verse, picture, or article that makes me feel good about life, and save it to my phone. Scroll through these when the self-talk starts to go dark.
Isaiah 41:10, 13-14
“Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness. For I, the LORD your God, will hold your right hand, saying to you, ‘Don’t be afraid. I will help you.’ Don’t be afraid, you worm Jacob, and you men of Israel. I will help you,” says the LORD. “Your Redeemer is the Holy One of Israel.”
4. COUNT ON COURAGE. Press pointer finger to thumb, then proceed to do the same with middle finger, ring finger, and pinkie, saying with each touch to the thumb: "Be strong and courageous!" "Don't be afraid of anyone!" "God is with me, now!" "God will not fail me, nor forsake me!"
Deuteronomy 31:6-7
“Be strong and courageous. Don’t be afraid or scared of them; for the LORD your God himself is who goes with you. He will not fail you nor forsake you.” Moses called to Joshua, and said to him in the sight of all Israel, “Be strong and courageous, for you shall go with this people into the land which the LORD has sworn to their fathers to give them; and you shall cause them to inherit it.”
