Finally Home

Isaiah 9:7
Of the increase of his government and of peace there shall be no end, on David’s throne, and on his kingdom, to establish it, and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from that time on, even forever. The zeal of the LORD of Hosts will perform this.
Sometimes I like to think about what it will be like in heaven.
I imagine meeting all my family who passed away before I was born. About what it will be like to see the glistening streets of gold, and the angels who took care of me on earth. I imagine what it will be like to finally meet Jesus; to have God Himself wipe the tears from my eyes.
I’ve thought about those things and how wonderful it will be, and then I’ve thought about all the things I still want to do on earth. And while some of the things I want to do seem pretty great right now, they all pale in comparison to being with Jesus forever, worshiping with the angels or learning at His feet.
Scripture says that God is excited and eager to take us home too. If we can’t wait, then His excitement must be almost unbearable!
The Bible describes God as a good and loving Heavenly Father, so I can only imagine how much He wants to end the suffering that we experience in this world and take us home to be with Him forever. Even so, Lord Jesus, come!
Reflection
What am I most looking forward to in heaven? Am I as enthusiastic about spending eternity with God as He is about spending it with me?
Prayer
Dear God, Thank You for Your enthusiastic, all-encompassing love and for Your Son Jesus. Thank You for promising to come back one day, and for making a home for me in heaven. Please let me be with You when You return. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
