When our friends had a baby, they waffled for a week on his name, legally changing it three times!

The baby ultimately ended up with four names: his father’s, both grandfathers’, and a beloved Bible character. His doting family poured all their ambitions into him.

Our world was birthed by God.

In Genesis, it says that God’s Spirit hovered over the waters of the deep in the same way that a mother hen eagerly beats her wings over her new chicks, encouraging them to fly (Deuteronomy 32:11).

This world of ours overflows with creatures God conceived, for which He has great ambitions. His creative plans are all over our yards, our evening strolls, our window views. It seems that much of nature He made for our good pleasure. He created pets that comfort and adore us. He created plants that feed our bodies and souls. Even the palette He used to color the world blends easy on our eyes.

But perhaps some of nature He made for little else but His own good pleasure: the sounds of the planets, the creatures that swim in the darkest parts of the sea, the symphony of the songbirds before sunrise. God simply desired them and brought them into existence. Of course He is worthy of our worship.
