Is God Mad at Me?

Does God get angry? Yes! Scripture makes it clear that our deliberate sinfulness and vanity provokes the fury of Lord of the Universe (See Joshua 23:16; 1 Kings 16; Revelation 14:10).
But is God looking for a reason to be angry with His children? No! On the contrary, He sent His Son to bear the cost of disobedience. He goes out of His way to show us His love.
God never forsakes His children
Nehemiah 9:17
And refused to obey. They weren’t mindful of your wonders that you did among them, but hardened their neck, and in their rebellion appointed a captain to return to their bondage. But you are a God ready to pardon, gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and abundant in loving kindness, and didn’t forsake them.
God is merciful and gracious, though our actions have consequences
Exodus 34:6-7
The LORD passed by before him, and proclaimed, “The LORD! The LORD, a merciful and gracious God, slow to anger, and abundant in loving kindness and truth, keeping loving kindness for thousands, forgiving iniquity and disobedience and sin; and who will by no means clear the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, and on the children’s children, on the third and on the fourth generation.”
It angers God when we take His blessings for granted
Psalm 90:7, 9, 11-12
For we are consumed in your anger. We are troubled in your wrath. For all our days have passed away in your wrath. We bring our years to an end as a sigh. Who knows the power of your anger, your wrath according to the fear that is due to you? So teach us to count our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.
God hears my prayers for mercy
Psalm 6:1-2, 9
LORD, don’t rebuke me in your anger, neither discipline me in your wrath. Have mercy on me, LORD, for I am faint. LORD, heal me, for my bones are troubled. The LORD has heard my supplication. The LORD accepts my prayer.
What is God’s attitude toward me?
Ephesians 4:31-32
Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander, be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tender hearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you.
