Bible verses about
Discipleship

The moment I accept Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior, I am His disciple. That means I am a follower of Christ.

As a disciple, I imitate Christ. Through Christ-centered Bible verses, I share my Savior with others. Thus, I make another disciple who thankfully follows Jesus. Then I help that disciple to make other disciples.

For the disciple, Jesus Christ is everything. We live with joy a Christ-centered life, praising God and giving glory to Him.

Jesus gives his disciples authority

Matthew 10:1-4

He called to himself his twelve disciples, and gave them authority over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal every disease and every sickness. Now the names of the twelve apostles are these. The first, Simon, who is called Peter; Andrew, his brother; James the son of Zebedee; John, his brother; Philip; Bartholomew; Thomas; Matthew the tax collector; James the son of Alphaeus; Lebbaeus, who was also called Thaddaeus; Simon the Zealot; and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed him.

Jesus’ disciples crowd around Him

Luke 6:17

Acts 11:26

Those healed by Jesus consider themselves His disciples

John 9:27-28

He answered them, “I told you already, and you didn’t listen. Why do you want to hear it again? You don’t also want to become his disciples, do you?” They insulted him and said, “You are his disciple, but we are disciples of Moses.”

Christ’s great commission to all His disciples: make more disciples

Matthew 28:16-20

But the eleven disciples went into Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had sent them. When they saw him, they bowed down to him; but some doubted. Jesus came to them and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth. Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I commanded you. Behold, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.

As a disciple, I know Jesus’ truth will set me free

He said to them, “Come after me, and I will make you fishers for men.” They immediately left their nets and followed him.

A disciple is God’s unique instrument, honored to do good works for Christ

2 Timothy 2:20-21
