The most receptive group to evangelism are children.

According to research done by the Barna Group, most American Christians committed their lives to Christ between the ages of 5-13. The research confirms that the age of acceptance has a big impact on faith.

The Barna Research surveys found that American children between the ages of 5 to 13 are 32% more likely to become Christian, whereas teenagers between the ages of 14 to 18 have a 14% probability of becoming Christians.

By the time a person is 19 years old or older, the probability of them becoming Christian drops to a measly six percent.

Clearly, our focus as parents, pastors, youth leaders, and church members needs to change. We seek out adults and overlooking children to our own detriment.

Jesus knew the importance of reaching out to children. Throughout His ministry, Jesus made children feel welcomed and accepted. He knew children are capable of making a decision for God.

The Bible and church history reveal the importance of reaching children for God’s kingdom. Bible stories of young believers like Josiah, Samuel, and the servant girl who shared her faith with Captain Naaman reveal that God’s kingdom welcomes people of all ages and stages. It’s up to us as older believers to welcome them, just as Jesus did during His earthly ministry.
