Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Could oppression, or anguish, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? No, in all these things, we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.
I stood at the school bus stop, alone, waiting in the rain.
Was I forgotten? Would I ever find my way home? My tears mingled with the rain. Would I ever see my loved ones again?
I was separated from the people I loved, unprepared to navigate through the world without them.
The school behind me looked dark and abandoned after hours. I peered through the torrents for a familiar outline.
Nothing. No one.
I sobbed uncontrollably.
Just as I surrendered to my hopeless situation, my family appeared. I was unable to stop crying but, instead, wailed even louder while in their arms.
We headed towards home with them attempting to quiet me with the repeated assurance that, although delayed by an emergency, nothing would ever separate us.
Eventually, my panic melted into peace and my sobs gave way to sleep.
True to their words, whether in rain or snow, my family was there to weather the elements and pick me up.
I often feel in uncharted waters again today as I peer at the world around me. Through all the torrents of strife, I cling to the surety of Christ’s unchanging love as He carries me towards Home.
How confident am I in Jesus’ love for me? How can I increase this confidence today? How can I share my faith with someone to give them confidence in Christ as well?
Loving God, I am so grateful that nothing can separate me from You. I put all my confidence in You — today and every day. Thank You for being fully aware of me and completely committed to me. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
