In the Bible, Jesus is called the “Prince of Peace” (Isaiah 9:6) for good reason.

Today’s verse references when Jesus cast a demon out of a man in the synagogue, showing His authority over the powers of evil, as well as His ability to grant peace to those who need it.

The need for peace is just as prevalent today as it was 2,000 years ago, but more than earthly peace, we need God’s peace. We need the kind of peace that doesn’t rely on earthly circumstances. The kind that comes from a God who never fails.

Jesus delivers God’s peace to those who need it most — you and me. “And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:7 WEB).

God has the power to grant us peace because He is the author of it. It is a gift and a blessing that He gives to His followers through the Holy Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23).

By keeping in constant communication with Him, Jesus, the Prince of Peace, is able to give us rest and a quiet trust in His infinite wisdom and mercy to watch over us as we go through the chaos of life.
