“Better is the poor who walks in his integrity than he who is perverse in his lips and is a fool,” wise King Solomon advises (Proverbs 19:1 WEB).
Integrity is a personal commitment to do the right thing no matter what. It does not change according to the opinions of others. It is not susceptible to bribery, threats, or extortion. Those with integrity follow Jesus wherever He leads, making an unwavering decision to hold fast to what they know is right.
My integrity enables God to fulfill His promises and bless me
As for you, if you will walk before me, as David your father walked, in integrity of heart, and in uprightness, to do according to all that I have commanded you, and will keep my statutes and my ordinances; then I will establish the throne of your kingdom over Israel forever, as I promised to David your father, saying, “There shall not fail from you a man on the throne of Israel.”
Integrity means I will honor my word
But let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes’ and your ‘No’ be ‘No.’ Whatever is more than these is of the evil one.
My integrity is not based on my circumstances
The LORD said to Satan, “Have you considered my servant Job? For there is no one like him in the earth, a blameless and an upright man, one who fears God, and turns away from evil. He still maintains his integrity, although you incited me against him, to ruin him without cause.”
My integrity puts my detractors to shame
In all things show yourself an example of good works. In your teaching, show integrity, seriousness, incorruptibility, and soundness of speech that can’t be condemned, that he who opposes you may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say about us.
My integrity allows me to rely on God’s mercy without fearing His judgment
Judge me, LORD, for I have walked in my integrity. I have trusted also in the LORD without wavering. But as for me, I will walk in my integrity. Redeem me, and be merciful to me.
My integrity affects how God interacts with me
Therefore the LORD has rewarded me according to my righteousness, According to my cleanness in his eyesight. With the merciful you will show yourself merciful. With the perfect man you will show yourself perfect.
I will hold fast to my integrity while I wait for God’s deliverance
Oh keep my soul, and deliver me. Let me not be disappointed, for I take refuge in you. Let integrity and uprightness preserve me, for I wait for you.
God’s kingdom is built upon His integrity
But of the Son he says, “Your throne, O God, is forever and ever. The scepter of uprightness is the scepter of your Kingdom. You have loved righteousness and hated iniquity; therefore God, your God, has anointed you with the oil of gladness above your fellows.”
Righteousness and integrity go hand in hand
Righteousness guards the way of integrity, but wickedness overthrows the sinner.
Living with integrity gives me a clear conscience
Paul, looking steadfastly at the council, said, “Brothers, I have lived before God in all good conscience until today.”
