We can all agree that life isn’t perfect.

Life’s constant stresses and struggles can be overwhelming to say the least. But there’s hope! “In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality” (1 Corinthians 15:52-53).

One day soon, Jesus is coming back. And as today’s verse says, “the first things” — pain, heartache, and sorrow — will pass away.

Our grief will be a distant memory in heaven.

“For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us,” Paul reminded the church in Rome (Romans 8:18).

Not only will our bodies be transformed, but our whole understanding as well.

“Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known” (1 Corinthians 13:12).

In the end, it’s death that will die. Sorrow will flee and pain will be no more. What an amazing thing to look forward to!

So no, maybe this life isn’t perfect. But because of Jesus, we have the assurance that one day it will be.
