For I am not ashamed of the Good News of Christ, for it is the power of God for salvation for everyone who believes; for the Jew first, and also for the Greek.
The Good News of Christ is the gospel of Christ. Paul so thoroughly convinced of the truth of the gospel, and he himself had so fully experienced its blessing and power, he was not ashamed of any part of it, he should boast in the cross of Jesus (Galatians 6:14). Through today’s verse, Paul teaches you that from a state of hopelessness, dead in sins, there was deliverance through the gospel of Jesus Christ.
The gospel as presented by Paul is just as powerful today as when it was written. You can now know the rich treasures of the grace of Christ, the abundant love of God as revealed through His Son. How can you, while in a cold, lifeless condition, appreciate these truths? How can you be unashamed for Christ and the gospel today?
The way to be unashamed is to overflow in thanksgiving for what Christ has done: the forgiveness of sin, the peace of salvation, and the hope for the future. All of these things lead you to be unashamed to call yourself a Christian.
Prayer: God, help to be unashamed for You and the gospel. Help me to reflect on all you have done for me through uplifting and joyful life in You. In Jesus’ Name, I pray, Amen.
