They rose early in the morning and went out into the wilderness of Tekoa. As they went out, Jehoshaphat stood and said, “Listen to me, Judah and you inhabitants of Jerusalem! Believe in the LORD your God, so you will be established! Believe his prophets, so you will prosper.”
To believe in the Lord is about more than just believing God and Jesus exist.
If you believe in the Lord, you will obey Him in all things and follow Him faithfully because you know your only hope for eternity in heaven is found in Him.
The definition of prosperity is: to flourish… to be successful.
Most would associate these things with their financial state, but it’s about a lot more than money. If you are happy and content, you are successful. If you enjoy good health, or good godly friends, you are successful. If you find fulfillment and satisfaction in what you do, you are flourishing and successful.
I know this to be true because there were times when we had less than ten dollars in our bank account a week before my husband’s next payday came around. In spite of our lack of finances, I felt completely fulfilled as a stay at home mom. We flourished as a family who loved the Lord.
Today my children are grown, happily married, and doing a great job parenting their own children. They are my proof that believing in the Lord (and teaching others to do so) is true prosperity.
What measure do I use to determine success? What is the one success of which I am proudest? How does God figure into that success?
Dear Lord, Please keep my eyes, heart, and mind focused on You. Please establish me and help me prosper in a way that brings glory to You. I believe, Lord — help my unbelief! In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.
