Praise the LORD! Blessed is the man who fears the LORD, who delights greatly in his commandments. His offspring will be mighty in the land. The generation of the upright will be blessed. Wealth and riches are in his house. His righteousness endures forever.
When my children were growing up they knew two things: They were loved unconditionally, and disobedience resulted in disciplinary consequences.
I’m happy to say there were very few times any of them broke the rules. If you asked them why they didn’t, they wouldn’t say it was because they feared the consequences.
The fear they felt could have been a multi-faceted fear: the consequences for breaking the rules, respect for parental authority, the benefits for their right choices.
They also knew that their heartfelt obedience would receive their parents’ blessings of privileges, trust, and loving relationship they value highly.
Like family, your fear the LORD has the consequences of sin (Romans 6:23), respect Heavenly Father’s authority and holiness (1 Samuel 12:24), benefits for your right choices (Luke 11:28), blessings of privileges, trust, and loving relationship you value more than anything else (Psalm 112:1-3).
Praise the LORD! How joyful are you who fear the LORD! You delight in obeying His commands. Your children will be successful everywhere; an entire generation of godly people will be blessed. They will be wealthy, and their good deeds will last forever.
Pray: God, I honor and respect You for giving me/my offsprings abundant blessings. Give me a humble heart to love You always. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.
