Your word is a lamp to my feet, and a light for my path.
Life is often compared to a journey; a journey consisting of both the known and the unknown. It is also a journey of varied ‘road surfaces’. Some are smoothly paved and allow you to make your way without a hitch. Others, however, are full of bumps, potholes, perilous curves, and even ditches and ravines. These are the roads that bring stress, disappointment, pain, and grief into your life. And to make matters worse, often times you are completely in the dark when you hit these rough spots with no visible light to guide you out!
What if I told you, however, that there is a light that will never leave you to find your way in the dark again—a light within your reach that never stops shining and one that always leads you in the right direction? Well, guess what? There is such a light. It is God’s Word, the Bible.
The Bible says:
I have kept my feet from every evil way, that I might observe your word. I have not turned aside from your ordinances, for you have taught me. Your word is a lamp to my feet, and a light for my path.
Psalm 119:101, 102, 105
“Your word” means the Bible. The Bible is God’s lamp to your feet and light to your path in this world of sin. The Bible is a lifesaving and life-giving tool or instrument that never changes, never leads you down the wrong path, and is never wrong.
Former US President, Woodrow Wilson once said, “When you have read the Bible, you know it is the word of God, because it is the key to your heart, your own happiness, and your own duty.“
The Bible gives you a sense of calm and hope for today as well as the future. In it you will find the answers to solve all of life’s problems (big or small), as well as words of inspiration to live a life of faith, purity, good stewardship, compassion, and love for God and others. The Bible fills your heart with a desire to be like Jesus and to live a life that reflects your hope for an eternal home in heaven.
The Bible is God’s GPS for living life to its fullest and best.
