For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God didn’t send his Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world should be saved through him.
John 3:16 is the most quoted verse in the Bible. And why not! This one simple verse eloquently sums up the Bible’s entire message. It is, however, impossible to comprehend the intensity of God’s love—no matter how often we say or read these verses. It is only when we allow ourselves to become immersed in God’s love that we begin to comprehend the message.
When I look back at all the ways God has demonstrated His love for me since I accepted Him as Savior when I was just ten years old. I am humbled and amazed to think of just how great His love for me is. If you, too, will take a few moments to think about all God has done for you, you will be equally humbled and in awe of the holy and awesome God we call Father.
No matter what storm you face in your life, you need to know that God really loves you. And He is very close to you and embraces you with His mighty arms. C. S. Lewis thus said, “Though our feelings come and go, God’s love for us does not.” I agree with Augustine that “God loves each of us as if there were only one of us.”
Prayer: Father, thank you for the miracle of Your unconditional love and for covering my life in it. Give me a grateful heart and make me ever mindful of who You are. In Jesus’ beautiful name, I pray, amen.
