[Jesus said] “Seek first God’s Kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore don’t be anxious for tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Each day’s own evil is sufficient.” >> Matthew 6:33-34
Does money make the world go round?
This is an old saying in our culture. It typically means that money, buying and selling, the economy, are what drive the lives of those who live on this planet.
While true in certain respects, this can’t be taken literally. It’s really the natural laws governing objects in space that make the world, our planet, go round.
And even then, that’s not really what makes the world go round. God, as Creator of the heavens and earth, set the series of events in motion that make the world go round. This includes the earth’s literal rotation, but also, the existence and movement of money and the world’s economies, and finally, it includes whether you’ll spin ‘round and ‘round in anxiety over getting your needs met.
So, the next time you find yourself fretting about clothing your children, paying the electric bill, or having enough for retirement, remember this fundamental truth:
God makes the world go round
