Have you ever been faced with making a choice that really wasn’t a choice?

Technically, you could do one thing or the other, but in your heart, you know there was only one right choice?

Years ago, I worked for a short time at a bank. I enjoyed the job itself, but the people I worked with were not kind. Two of them purposely sabotaged my work. When I caught them in the act, they said they were testing me to see if I would fit in with them. I knew at that point I had two choices. Choice 1: Become like them. Choice 2: Walk away with my godly integrity and sanity intact.

But was there really a choice to be made?

To stay would have been a curse. I would have become someone I didn’t want to be — someone God didn’t want me to be. To leave was, in their eyes, admitting defeat, but that’s not the way I saw it.

When I chose to follow God’s commandments, He blessed me by restoring my sense of peace and self-confidence. He blessed me by taking me away from a toxic environment.

When you find yourself faced with either a blessing or a curse, always choose the blessing. It’s a choice you’ll never regret.
