I command you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at his appearing and his Kingdom: proclaim the word; be urgent in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with all patience and teaching.
When I was little, a lady came to our home to invite my brother and me to attend church with her.
She soon became my spiritual mentor and helped me to continue my new born Christian life. It wasn’t easy for either of us. My uncle threatened to physically harm her if she continued to take us to church.
She didn’t let my uncle’s threats stop her, though. She put her safety on the line for our spiritual wellbeing. She knew if she let my uncle bully her, the chances of us finding salvation were next to nothing.
Because of her sacrifice and support, I know what it is to have a personal relationship with Jesus. I appreciate her so much, because without her, I have no doubt I would still be lost. Even though she passed away many years ago, I still consider her my spiritual mother and I am happy to say I am trying to be to others what she was to me.
The best way to be like Jesus is to care for and disciple others as Jesus did. You can start by simply showing kindness and compassion to someone in need. Then ask Jesus to lead you to someone in need of prayer and teaching of God’s truth.
Am I showing others the love of Jesus? How do I respond when I have an opportunity to share the truth of God’s Word?
Loving Lord, Thank You for giving me the privilege to share my faith with others. Help me to take care of others who need my help. I want to be more like Jesus. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
