When I Did Not Have Any

by Pastor Ken

Philippians 4:19

My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.

As a teen in South Korea, I was a self-supporting independent student.

One day, I could not go a step further. I remembered the promise of today’s verse: that as long as I worked towards God’s mission, He would provide everything for me.

But I could not find any hope. I felt I should die. So, I found a quiet place on a small mountain and cried to God, “Why would You allow me to be here in this miserable place?” I poured out everything inside me to God.

A few hours later, I became silent. All my tears dried up. I sat on a rock.

I felt Jesus touching me. His Spirit whispered to me, “I know your situation. You do not understand it now. But later you will know why. Stand and walk. I will be with you and will supply every need.”

Yes, He did supply all my needs.

Eventually, I become a pastor. When I was pastoring, most of the people I served were poor. I was able to help them better because I knew what it was like to experience extreme poverty.

God did not spare His own Son but gave Him up for your salvation. Praise Jesus, He has supplied our every need.

Reflection

How can I believe and experience God’s promise to supply every need of mine when I am in an impoverished situation?

Prayer

Gracious God, Thank You for providing every need of mine. When I am discouraged, please help me to better understand Your plan for my life. Help me to place my trust in You. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
