Therefore I urge you, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service.
Anna’s nine-year-old daughter is a tomboy through and through. There are only one or two dresses in her closet for those occasions when nothing else will do. The problem (almost) came, however, when ‘Madison’ didn’t think her aunt’s wedding was one of those occasions when nothing else would do.
After trying to reason with ‘Madison’, Anna finally said, “This day isn’t about you or what you want. This is your aunt’s special day and you are going to do everything you can to help make that happen—and dressing appropriately is one of those things.”
The same thing can be said about you and me in talking about how we present ourselves to God. We might not always agree with the way God wants us to ‘dress’ (serve, respond, etc.) but the truth of the matter is this: It’s not about us. It’s about God and pleasing Him because He is Holy God and He deserves our very best all the time.
Do It: What attitudes, habits, or actions are you ‘wearing’ that are not pleasing to God? Take definitive action TODAY to change—to ‘dress’ for the occasion of serving Him.
