You Can’t Make This Stuff Up

by Darla Noble

Hebrews 11:33-34

Who through faith subdued kingdoms, worked out righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, quenched the power of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, from weakness were made strong, grew mighty in war, and caused foreign armies to flee.

Several years ago, I made the commitment to God that I would never take a writing job that would dishonor Him.

There have been times I’ve been offered lucrative projects to write on topics I don’t agree with. I’ve turned them down. I’ve even been asked to write something in the name of Christianity that doesn’t agree with the Bible’s teaching. I’ve turned those jobs down, too.

Now, every time I’ve been offered one of these projects, I’ve had extra financial needs — new glasses, dental work, an emergency trip, and other such things. The need for the extra money could have made it easy for me to justify “needing” to break my rule. But I didn’t and God was faithful.

Every time I said “no” to dishonoring God, He honored my faithfulness by providing me with work that would bring Him glory and pay me more than the projects I turned down.

Many others I know have had similar experiences to mine. When they have been in need, God miraculously provides. When they were all but certain they didn’t have enough, God multiplied their “fish and bread.”

You can’t make this stuff up.

God’s faithfulness in supplying our needs and blessing us with things we want is more exciting and amazing than any story ever told.

Reflection

When have I witnessed or experienced a miraculous act of faith? How did it make me feel?

Prayer

Dear God, Thank You for Your provisions and for Your blessings. Your love makes it a joy to be faithful and obedient to You. You are wonderful! In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
