But when Jesus saw it, he was moved with indignation, and said to them, “Allow the little children to come to me! Don’t forbid them, for God’s Kingdom belongs to such as these. Most certainly I tell you, whoever will not receive God’s Kingdom like a little child, he will in no way enter into it.” He took them in his arms, and blessed them, laying his hands on them.
Jesus’ disciples tried to prevent some young children from interrupting and ‘bothering’ Jesus one day as He was teaching and tending to a crowd of people. But Jesus stopped them. He told them that we should all be as eager to come to Him and as willing to respond to Him with the same kind of genuine faith and trust the children had in Him. And then Jesus did something very special for the children around Him. He blessed them.
Jesus’ heart is full of desire to bless us—His children. But He also wants us to have the desire to pass those blessings on to others. In today’s society we call it ‘paying it forward’ or ‘random acts of kindness’. Today I want to encourage you to take every opportunity you have to pay it forward. Even the smallest act of kindness or simple words of encouragement can make a big difference in someone’s life.
You don’t have to have a lot of money or material wealth to be a blessing to someone. All you have to do is lend a helping hand, share what you do have with others, and always make sure your words build others up rather than tearing them down.
Be someone whose simple blessing (random act of kindness) might just possibly be the miracle they need today.
Pray: Father, thank You for giving me the power to encourage, help, and inspire. Help me be a light that shines brightly for You. In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.
