Power in Music

by Pastor Ken

Hebrews 13:15

Through him, then, let us offer up a sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of lips which proclaim allegiance to his name.

There is power in music. Music can heal, inspire, comfort.

My wife was ill with malaria. The chances for her recovery were slim to none. The doctor recommended calling all our friends and family because he could not see any hope.

Near midnight, I was driving back home alone, weeping. I did not know what to do.

Then a song on my iPhone played through the car speakers. The deep, rich bass notes touched my heart because the lyrics had a clear message: that anyone who was in trouble should look at Jesus.

That was exactly what I needed. I played the music again and again. It comforted me and gave me hope.

With God’s grace, my wife became better. About two years later, she was completely healed. Now she is healthy.

If you have a burden you cannot bear, if you feel there is nowhere to turn for hope, remember Jesus is waiting for you to come to Him.

In your despair, sing some uplifting songs or listen to some hymns and your low spirits will brighten up. A prayerful, spiritual song will lift your heart, warm your soul, and give you bright hope for your future.

May God give you peace and comfort as He did to me in my darkest time.

Reflection

How can I use music to overcome sorrow and low spirits?

Prayer

Dear Lord, Thank You for Your healing touch through music. Let me sing often and find peace and hope in You. I pray in Jesus’ name, Amen.
