Accept God’s Invitation

by John Michalak

Isaiah 55:1

Hey! Come, everyone who thirsts, to the waters! Come, he who has no money, buy, and eat! Yes, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.

There is nothing like visiting a friend’s house for dinner.

There you feel the warmth of welcome, receive the gifts of hospitality and conversation, share a delicious meal and, whenever possible, still save room for dessert.

Imagine receiving that invitation and never leaving your house. You stand at your door and imagine what a nice dinner among friends would be like. That’s what the people of Israel did. Back then, the invitation to God’s house was only extended to people like Moses.

Today, God calls us friends. Those saved by the blood of Christ are invited to speak to God, face to face. God invites all of us to feel the warmth of His welcome and to enjoy the gifts of His hospitality and conversation.

Have you accepted God’s invitation? Or do you only stand at your door and wonder?

Reflection

Do I want to speak to Jesus as I talk to my friend? How can I relate to Jesus with more devotion and intimacy?

Prayer

Dear God, Thank You for inviting me. Help me to fully appreciate the warmth of Your welcome and enjoy the gifts of Your hospitality and conversation. In Jesus’ precious name I pray, Amen.
