In 2018, a Pew Research survey revealed that though 80% of Americans say they believe in God, just over half believe in a Biblical God.

The rest believe in “a being of higher authority.” According to the survey, less than half of believers read their Bible more than once a week. The others don’t read it unless they are in church.

How sad that so many believe but know so little about God!

It’s even sadder that those who believe aren’t tapping into the wisdom Solomon is speaking of in this verse — the wisdom God wants to pour into their lives!

In order to have Godly wisdom, you need two things: belief and knowledge.

For example, I believe in the mechanics of electricity and I know a little bit about what makes it work. But I am unwise in these things; meaning I don’t grasp why electricity works. The same is true for us as Christians when it comes to having the wisdom of God that brings hope and peace.

It’s not enough to believe in God, to know Bible stories, or to even be able to quote Bible verses. What we need is wisdom; knowing God intimately, knowing and doing what He would do, because we are so in tune to His Word. This kind of wisdom will never disappoint or rob you of the peace only God can bring.
