Through you, will we push down our adversaries. Through your name, we will tread down those who rise up against us.
Goliath, the gigantic Philistine champion warrior, walked toward a shepherd boy named David.
With his shield bearer ahead of him, Goliath cursed David by the names of his gods.
David fearlessly replied, “You come with sword, spear, and javelin, but I come to you in the name of the Lord, the God of Israel.”
David hurled a stone with his sling and hit Goliath in the forehead. Goliath stumbled and fell face down on the ground. David, through God’s name, had defeated the giant who rose up against Israel and against God (1 Samuel 17:32-58).
Do you face any Goliath-like situation: a weakness, financial crisis, addiction, relational crash, or other struggle?
Some struggles are apparent: the outside world sees them as intimidating giants. Sometimes our efforts may not be evident to anyone but God. No matter what adversaries we face, we have victory in Jesus to overcome them.
Now is the time you can fully trust in God and take all worries to Him. He is ready to help you if you let Him fight for you.
What challenge can I face today with more confidence through God’s name?
Dear God, I know all power and glory is Yours. Thank You for fighting my battles for me. As I struggle with the giants in my life, please help me to gain victory. In Jesus’ victorious name I pray, Amen.
