But he answered, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of God’s mouth.’”
God knows you need food, water, and shelter to survive.
But God wants you to do more than survive. He wants you to have joy, peace, purpose, and happiness. You can get these from His Word.
God’s Word promises joy as you believe, in faith, that all things are according to God’s plan. As you see growth in your life, you can thank God and receive joy.
God’s Word imparts peace. Jesus Himself has promised to give you His peace. Jesus had complete peace in a whirlwind of a storm on the sea of Galilee. He had peace when surrounded by hundreds of angry men crying to crucify Him. He had peace when all His friends left Him.
God’s Word gives purpose. Your life is purchased with the great price of Christ’s life. As such, your purpose is to live up to your full potential.
God’s Word gives happiness. True happiness comes when you dwell in the safety of God’s Word. Nothing can shake you, as God is your surety and hope. Even death holds no sway, as it is simply a sweet sleep till Jesus wakes you up.
God wants you to have all these abundant blessings. You just need to open His Word and receive them. Live by His Word, today.
Do I read the Bible every day to saturate myself in God’s Word? I will resolve to spend time in the Word every day this week. (If unsure where to start, take the day of the month and read the corresponding chapter in Psalms or Proverbs.)
Dear God, Thank You for Your Word. I want it to fill and nourish my soul. Thank You for the joy, peace, purpose, and happiness only You can provide. I praise Your holy name, Amen.
