Back in 1986, Tom Bodett, spokesman for the Motel 6 chain of hotels, ad libbed the line, “We’ll leave the light on for you.”

The advertising slogan was instantly famous, remaining a catch phrase for the company for over a quarter of a century. The message was there was never a bad time to check into a Motel 6. Like family and friends who care for you, their light would always be on to help you find your way.

The same can be said for God. The light of His truth and love are always on, shedding light on His unbroken promises, lighting the path that is His will for our life, and revealing the blessings and hope of heaven.

This is in stark contrast to Satan’s ploys to lure us into the evils of sin. He purposefully dims the lights, so to speak, masking the ugliness of sin with just enough illumination to lure us in.

Don’t let this happen to you. Keep your eyes on the Light of life, which is Jesus. God keeps this Light shining 24/7, because there is never a bad time to come home to Him.
