Family Resemblance

by Pastor Ken

1 Peter 2:9

But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, that you may proclaim the excellence of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.

Many years ago, a man who worked at the White House did not recognize the little boy playing in one of the White House gardens.

When the man asked the boy who he was, the child said, “My father is the President Abraham Lincoln.”

Upon seeing the child close-up, the man saw the family resemblance and immediately realized the boy was President Lincoln’s son.

Young Lincoln was left to enjoy the privileges of living in the White House because he was a member of the Presidential family.

Similarly, you have the opportunity to be part of the family of God!

When you accept Christ as your Savior and Lord, you become a part of the royal family of the Heavenly Kingdom!

Being a member of God’s royal family is something to take seriously.

Remember that you are chosen to be a child of the King of Kings. Let your life reflect the joy, humility, hope, and respect you have for belonging to this most important family. Live with a heart and mind that reflects the thankfulness you feel for being God’s precious child. And live so people can see that the family resemblance of your Father shines through all you do.

Reflection

How can I better represent the royal family of God in my daily life?

Prayer

Dear Loving Lord, Thank You for accepting me into Your royal family. Help me live my life showing others what a privilege it is and how they can become a part of Your family, too. I pray in the name of Jesus, Amen.
