Why Do We Make It So Difficult

by Darla Noble

It shall happen, if you shall listen diligently to the LORD your God’s voice, to observe to do all his commandments which I command you this day, that the LORD your God will set you high above all the nations of the earth.

Deuteronomy 28:1

Today’s verse is a promise from God that leaves no room for doubt or question about what He wants from us.

If we are diligent in our obedience, God will “set us high above….” In other words, if we faithfully follow all His commands, we can’t even begin to imagine the blessings He will send our way. It’s true. God says so, and God never says anything He does not mean. He never makes a promise He does not keep.

So why, then, do we make it so difficult for God and for ourselves? Why do we deprive ourselves of God’s abundant blessings that He promises to give in order to go after things that a) we aren’t guaranteed to get, and b) don’t last?

What’s your answer to that question? Why are you making it so difficult for God to be fully God in your life?

Open my heart and mind to be more obedient and trusting.
Remind me every day that You are all I need.
In the Name of Jesus, Amen.
