The Book That May Change Your Life

by Pastor Ken

Hebrews 13:1-2

Let brotherly love continue. Don’t forget to show hospitality to strangers, for in doing so, some have entertained angels without knowing it.

Several years ago a twenty-one year-old man broke into a house with the intention of robbing the homeowners of their valuables. Police sirens coming closer and closer, however, forced him to quickly grab what he could and escape getting caught.

Afterwards he discovered his hasty haul included some girl’s clothing and a small book. Angry at having nothing of value, the young man threw everything in the trash. Later however, he spotted that book in the trash bin, picked it up, and started reading. The first place his eyes landed was…

Let him who stole steal no more; but rather let him labor, producing with his hands something that is good, that he may have something to give to him who has need.

Ephesians 4:28

The young man’s body shook as the verse echoed through his mind. He eventually quit stealing, became a productive member of the workforce, met the woman who is now his wife, accepted Christ as Savior, and serves the LORD with joy and thanksgiving.

God’s grace is greater than any habit, addiction, or sinful lifestyle we are stuck in. The Bible says,

“But where sin abounded, grace abounded more exceedingly”

Romans 5:20.

Let the Bible change your bad habits. The Bible changed one young man’s life and it can change yours, too.
