At that time, Jesus answered, “I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you hid these things from the wise and understanding, and revealed them to infants. Yes, Father, for so it was well-pleasing in your sight.”
Missionaries who travel to third-world countries face fierce spiritual battles against voodoo, witch doctors, and other satanic practices.
While these things also exist in more modern societies, they are far more prevalent among the general population in underdeveloped areas of the world. But because the contrast between God and evil is so obvious, those who accept the saving grace of Jesus embrace Him with their whole heart, soul, and mind.
Those who see Jesus in these missionaries, who hear the Word of God preached, and who experience the power of God in their lives are all-in for Christ. They empty themselves of the past to be repentant and ready for service. They don’t try to explain things away with science or coincidence. They take Jesus at His word and trust that His word is truly good.
Don’t let intelligence, pride, or conventional wisdom keep you from Christ. See the contrast between good and evil and choose good.
In what ways am I letting pride or worldly “wisdom” keep me from being fully committed to the Lord? What will I do this week to change this?
Dear God, Please remove the obstacles in my life that are keeping me from being wholly and completely Yours. Let me be open and receptive to Your Word and to Your will for my life. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
