Have you ever waited with bated breath for a delivery package?

I’ve gotten the tracking number and carefully followed the progress of my package as it snaked its way to me. It goes from city to city, making one station stop, then the next, until finally… delivery is confirmed!

Sometimes I’m not home and get the “Missed Delivery” sticker on my door. Other times, I’ll call the delivery company to be told that my package is ready for pick up. Either way, I already begin rejoicing that my long-awaited package has arrived.

I may not have seen it or handled it, but still, I’m excited that it has finally “arrived,” based merely on my faith in the tracking system, the proof of the note on my door, or the assurance of the person on the other end of the telephone.

How much more sure is God’s Word? Before we see the substance of our prayer, based merely on His promises, we can rest assured that delivery is already confirmed. We can break out rejoicing before “the package” is in our hands.

Every one of God’s promises is itself a confirmation note better than the assurance of any tracking system, more real than a proof of delivery ticket, more confident than the say-so of an employee.

God’s Word is sure!
