Faithful and True

by Darla Noble

Revelation 21:5

He who sits on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” He said, “Write, for these words of God are faithful and true.”

The universe God created is a beautiful and magnificent place.

It is filled with the awesome beauty of nature and the joys of loving people and serving God by using the talents and abilities He so graciously gives.

But the world is also a troublesome place. War… cancer… deception… financial woes… broken relationships…. In other words, the world is filled with sin.

Yet God didn’t create us to live in a sinful world. He created us to worship Him and to enjoy living in His presence. He longs for our company — to spend eternity with us. That is why He sent Jesus as a sacrifice for our sins — so if we accept this amazing gift of salvation, we can spend eternity in the new world He has in store for us when Jesus returns to take the faithful and obedient to live in the presence of God.

The old Christian adage is true: God said it. I believe it. That settles it.

Today’s verse tells us that God’s words are faithful and true — that we can depend upon Him to keep His promise. What a joy it is to know that what God says is pure truth and that He never goes back on His word!

Reflection

Who sits on the throne of my heart? What new things has He created in my life?

Prayer

Dear Lord, Thank You for creating all things new — beginning with me. I look forward to spending eternity with You in the new heaven and the new earth, where sin, sorrow, and sadness are nothing but distant memories. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
