It is a good thing to give thanks to the LORD, to sing praises to your name, Most High, to proclaim your loving kindness in the morning, and your faithfulness every night.
When I was little, I was afraid of the dark.
Some nights I would watch my door, waiting for the lurking monsters to come and get me. But before I got too scared, I would start singing “Jesus Loves Me” until my fear went away or until I drifted off to sleep.
When I was older, I worked as a summer camp counselor taking care of kids that were 4-7 years old. Needless to say, it was a very stressful job.
A stereo in the main building played Christian music. Whenever I felt overwhelmed, those songs of hope empowered me to keep going, giving me the strength I didn’t know I had.
It’s important to worship God every day — to thank Him for all He has done and is still doing for us. The Bible says in Psalm 96:1-2 “Sing to the Lord a new song; sing to the Lord, all the earth. Sing to the Lord, praise his name; proclaim his salvation day after day.”
We should make a habit of worshiping God. Doing so can bring us peace in the bad times and double our joy in the good times. It doesn’t have to be a big musical number either, it can be as simple as humming “Jesus Loves Me.”
How can I worship God everyday? What songs do I find particularly worshipful?
Dear God, You alone are holy. Thank You for revealing Yourself to me. Please teach me how to sing praises to You in the good times and the bad. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
