Kyle loved the little church where he served as youth minister.

But when, out of the blue, he received an offer to be the preaching minister at a church only two hours from his hometown, he wondered if it was time to make a change.

He and his wife spent three weeks asking God to give them peace about moving, but agreed their prayers left them only more confused and unsettled.

One night while giving the youth group lesson, Kyle read today’s verse. One of the kids said she had never before realized that it really wasn’t so much about asking God for particular answers, but rather asking God for wisdom to know His answers.

Kyle and his wife looked at each other and could barely hold back the tears. They’d been asking the wrong question.

They changed their prayer to “Tell us what to do, God.”

God’s undeniable answer was to stay. So they stayed.

Through the years, God has blessed Kyle’s family and ministry in countless ways. They are thankful every day for His wisdom and how He worked through a fourteen-year-old girl to help them hear the answer to the question they weren’t asking, but should have been.
