God Is Your Cheerleader, Coach, and Sponsor

by Sam

Haven’t you known? Haven’t you heard? The everlasting God, the LORD, The Creator of the ends of the earth, doesn’t faint. He isn’t weary. His understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the weak. He increases the strength of him who has no might.

Isaiah 40:28-29

Cheerleaders, coach, sponsors all have one thing in common. They encourage people to keep going, even when mistakes are made. Coaches help people see their mistakes, train them in the right way, and help them to reach higher levels of excellence. Sponsors for quitting smoking and drinking help people with strategies, with an open ear and willing shoulder, to listen and encourage people stay off smokes or drinks. However, humans have a limit on how long they can listen, how often they can physically be there, and how wise of advice they can give. But not God.

God doesn’t get tired of encouraging you. He constantly gives you life and sends help to fight temptation. He will never give up on you and always be there. God’s understanding is unsearchable. He knows all the possible routes to and from the destination. He knows all the times and ways you can be tried and tested and sends the encouragement at just the right time.

God will strengthen you. He gives strength to the weak and those who have no strength. We of our own sinful natures, can do very little but cry out to God for strength. When we cry out in faith and believe, God will step in and fight our battles with and for us. He will empower us to resist temptation. He will give us the strength to overcome our cultivated and inherited tendencies. He will give you all you need to be victorious over sin.

God wants to be your cheerleader, coach, and sponsor. All He needs is permission. Won’t you ask Him to be your sponsor today?

Father in heaven, please be my sponsor and cheerleader. Send me strength to overcome my sinful habits. Give me wisdom and advice to know how to deal with situations today. And please send me encouragement to keep going today. In Jesus Name, I pray, Amen.
