Consistent Spiritual Growth

by Pastor Ken

Be diligent in these things. Give yourself wholly to them, that your progress may be revealed to all.

1 Timothy 4:15

Consistent spiritual growth is essential for your relationship with God.

Just like plants and children grow consistently, you must grow consistently in your knowledge of God and your commitment to Him. Obedience and faith in Jesus lead to this consistent growth by removing earthly obstacles such as age, money, level of education, and physical appearance and abilities.

When you develop the habit of doing at least one small thing to grow your spiritual life each day, your growth is deliberate and consistent. So…

  1. Begin each day by reading the Bible.
  2. Make sure you get adequate exposure to things like joy, love, and hope.
  3. Set aside one day each week as a Sabbath (day of rest) to be quiet, meditative, and spiritually fed.
  4. Remember: “I can do everything through Christ who gives me strength” (Phil 4:13).
  5. Pray for spiritual growth, follow where Jesus leads, and obey Him.

I want to spend today and every day with You.
Teach me and help me grow in knowledge and wisdom.
Put Your hand on me to slow me down so that I will take a weekly Sabbath.
In Your Name, I pray, Amen.
