For as in those days which were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ship, and they didn’t know until the flood came, and took them all away, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.
Noah built an ark and warned people of the impending rain that would flood the earth in spite of the fact that it had never rained before…ever. Noah tried, but no one would listen. Instead, they continued living in such a way that broke God’s heart (Genesis 6).
The verses do not teach that it is wrong in itself to eat, drink, or marry, but we should not do so at the expense of disregarding the fact that we were made by God to bring glory and honor to Him.
Nowadays, many people, just like the people in Noah’s time, have no regard for Jesus or are interested in being ready when He comes in His glory. Please don’t be one of those people! Live humbly, faithfully, and with a desire to please God so that you can know the joys of experiencing the joys of God’s promises and blessings.
Prayer: God, help me to have an intimate relationship with Jesus so that I can be ready to meet Jesus in glory. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.
