“The thief only comes to steal, kill, and destroy,” Jesus says. “I came that they may have life and may have it abundantly” (John 10:10).
Though sin has made life on this earth both short and difficult, Jesus is the Great Physician. Life here is fleeting — any healing that takes place here is short-lived. But Jesus promises to heal our souls for eternity!
God is stronger than any sickness or disease
Jesus went about in all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the Good News of the Kingdom, and healing every disease and every sickness among the people. The report about him went out into all Syria. They brought to him all who were sick, afflicted with various diseases and torments, possessed with demons, epileptics, and paralytics; and he healed them.
Intercessory prayer is important for healing both spirit and body
Is any among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the assembly, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord, and the prayer of faith will heal him who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. If he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.
Following God’s law is beneficial to my health
And he said, “If you will diligently listen to the LORD your God’s voice, and will do that which is right in his eyes, and will pay attention to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you which I have put on the Egyptians; for I am the LORD who heals you.”
To Jesus, the greatest healing is forgiving our sins
“For which is easier, to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven;’ or to say, ‘Get up, and walk?’ But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins—” (then he said to the paralytic), “Get up, and take up your mat, and go to your house.” He arose and departed to his house. But when the multitudes saw it, they marveled and glorified God, who had given such authority to men.
Being close to Jesus is good for my health
Wherever he entered, into villages, or into cities, or into the country, they laid the sick in the marketplaces, and begged him that they might just touch the fringe of his garment; and as many as touched him were made well.
God hears my cries for healing
Turn back, and tell Hezekiah the prince of my people, “The LORD, the God of David your father, says, ‘I have heard your prayer. I have seen your tears. Behold, I will heal you. On the third day, you will go up to the LORD’s house.’”
Our health is for His service
When Jesus came into Peter’s house, he saw his wife’s mother lying sick with a fever. He touched her hand, and the fever left her. So she got up and served him.
God heals and comforts me
I have seen his ways, and will heal him. I will lead him also, and restore comforts to him and to his mourners.
The name of Jesus is powerful medicine
But Peter said, “I have no silver or gold, but what I have, that I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, get up and walk!”
God is my source of health
Behold, I will bring it health and cure, and I will cure them; and I will reveal to them abundance of peace and truth.
The redeemed will eventually experience perfect health
He will wipe away from them every tear from their eyes. Death will be no more; neither will there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain, any more. The first things have passed away.
Pray for the health and prosperity of others
Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be healthy, even as your soul prospers.
My attitude affects my health
A cheerful heart makes good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.
Confession and intercession lead to healing
Confess your offenses to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The insistent prayer of a righteous person is powerfully effective.
