When Adam and Eve sinned, humans were separated from God. We couldn’t interact with Him anymore.

So, a tabernacle was created, and then a temple, where God could dwell among His people (Exodus 25:8). But His presence was only in the Most Holy Place, which was separated from everything else by a large veil.

No one was allowed into the Most Holy Place except for the high priest on the Day of Atonement; when he would make an atoning sacrifice for the sins of the people and bring the blood of the sacrifice before the Lord.

This ceremony served as a reconciliation, restoring the relationship between God and His people.

Centuries later, when Jesus died on the cross, the Bible says that the veil that separated the Holy Place from the Most Holy Place “was torn in two, from top to bottom” (Matthew 27:51), signifying that, through the blood of Christ, we are no longer separated from God’s presence.

Jesus’ death was the final atoning sacrifice for all of humanity’s sins, reconciling us with God once and for all.

Through His death, our separation ended, and through His Spirit, we can all have direct access to the Father. How wonderful God is. What an amazing precious Gift He’s given us!
