One of my favorite praise choruses to sing is “I Shall Not Be Moved.”

I love the rhythm, melody, and lyrics of this song. Singing about being planted, immovable, anchored, having Jesus as the Rock of Ages — it’s all so encouraging. It makes me feel strong and empowered by the Spirit.

But if all I do is sing about it, it’s worthless. I can’t just sing a song or read the words of Scripture. I have to believe them and live them.

That means when I am sick, sad, experience loss, or when people and situations around me are contrary to God’s Word and God’s will, I keep my eyes, heart, and mind on God and His goodness, truth, and promises.

It means I search God’s Word for wisdom and council when making decisions big and small. It means I don’t let people whose morals and beliefs are not the same as God’s influence me or make me feel old-fashioned for being like-minded with God.

To do these things, I must read and study the Bible. I must pray for strength, comfort, courage, and desire to be more like God every day. I must fellowship with my Christian family.

Nothing can separate you from Christ. Worship and praise so you are ever mindful of your Maker and forever joined to Him.
