I Know He Can, But…

Matthew 17:18-20
Jesus rebuked the demon, and it went out of him, and the boy was cured from that hour. Then the disciples came to Jesus privately, and said, “Why weren’t we able to cast it out?” He said to them, “Because of your unbelief. For most certainly I tell you, if you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, you will tell this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.”
I have absolutely no doubt whatsoever that God can do anything He wants.
His capabilities are limitless. Nothing is impossible or too difficult for God.
However, I have a confession to make. Even though I believe with my whole heart, soul, and mind that God can, there are times when I don’t believe He will. Or more specifically, I don’t believe He will do these things for me.
I’m not sure why I struggle with this.
Sometimes I think it’s because it’s not always easy to wait on God’s timing. Other times it’s because it seems that the more I pray about something, the worse the situation gets.
But here’s one thing I DO know: I know that even though my faith sometimes isn’t big enough to move a pebble, let alone a mountain, I will never stop believing. I will never stop hoping. I will never stop growing. I will cling to my faith in Jesus until my last breath — and eventually, those times of doubt will become a thing of the past.

What areas of faith or belief do I struggle with? What things strengthen my faith?
Prayer
Holy Lord, I know You are faithful. I know You are willing. I know Your promises are true. Help me not doubt that You will reveal these truths in my life. In Your Son’s name I pray, Amen.
