You should have seen his eyes sparkle! My son was taking his first steps and squealing for joy at his accomplishment!

Of course, my husband and I had our hands locked together, forming a pathway and a human “railing” to hold onto.

Our toddler-in-training lurched forward into my embrace. He turned around, locked eyes with Daddy, and staggered in his direction.

Could Andrej walk? Yes, he could! By grace.

Grace is the blessing of bestowing something good on someone who either doesn’t deserve it or can’t succeed without it. However, though grace is given to all, not all will receive it.

Why not?

Jesus knew we couldn’t be good enough for heaven and worthy of eternal life, so He came to offer the gift of His perfect life in place of our imperfect one.

We can do nothing to save ourselves, but the way we respond to His offer shows whether we really want to be saved. If we refuse to make necessary changes because we like certain traditions or habits, then these become our god and we’re no longer connected to the Source of grace. We have essentially turned it down and become unqualified to receive His magnificent offer.

Today, we have another chance to tell Jesus that we accept His gift and want to walk with Him.
