Grace Is a Gift from God

We are all sinful, fallen beings, incapable of saving ourselves. But God is not willing that any should perish (2 Peter 3:9). In His mercy, He extends a gift — grace — and calls us to repentance.

I am saved by the gift of God’s grace

Ephesians 2:8-9

For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, that no one would boast.

God’s grace keeps me humble

For I say through the grace that was given me, to every man who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think reasonably, as God has apportioned to each person a measure of faith.

God’s gift of grace is stronger than worldly temptation

James 4:6

But he gives more grace. Therefore it says, “God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.”

God’s gift of grace is available to all

Romans 5:15

But the free gift isn’t like the trespass. For if by the trespass of the one the many died, much more did the grace of God and the gift by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, abound to the many.

God gives grace to the humble

1 Peter 5:5

Likewise, you younger ones, be subject to the elder. Yes, all of you clothe yourselves with humility and subject yourselves to one another; for “God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.”
