The Blessings of Bad Times

2 Samuel 7:28-29
“Now, O Lord GOD, you are God, and your words are truth, and you have promised this good thing to your servant. Now therefore, let it please you to bless the house of your servant, that it may continue forever before you; for you, Lord GOD, have spoken it. Let the house of your servant be blessed forever with your blessing.”
We all want God’s blessings. He showers us with them all the time.
But sometimes we can get so caught up in the blessings that we forget the One who gives them. We let other things get in the way of our relationship with Him until something happens to remind us of how much we need Him.
It’s possible that our seasons of deepest pain and frustration are the times God blesses us the most. During those times the Bible promises come alive and we get to experience them first hand.
A few years ago I went through a season in my life where I felt very lonely. It was my first time being on my own and I was having difficulty adjusting. But it was then that God came close and I got to experience His faithfulness on a personal level.
The hard times cause us to realize our deep need for God. It’s in our struggles that we really get to experience God’s grace, love, faithfulness, and mercy. We get to know who God really is. And that, I think, is the greatest blessing of all.

What are some of my most treasured blessings from God? In what ways has He blessed me during difficult times?
Prayer
Dear God, Thank You for Your blessings in all seasons of life. Please help me hold onto You and to grow to know You more and more. No matter what happens, please give me the faith to trust You are in control and are working all things out for my good. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
