It’s great to get an invitation to someone’s home for a meal, a game night, or just to hang out together. So, let’s go!

We enter the house and immediately discover that the owners have decorated the place themselves. It’s beautiful, it’s functional, it’s unique. These are creative people, we realize. What they do with color and design, shapes and textures is impressive.

Though they didn’t invite us to get compliments on their fabulous creation, we wouldn’t be very observant nor expressive if we didn’t exclaim over the beauty we experience and praise their handiwork. And that’s just for making something nice in one’s home!

Now let’s go to God’s sanctuary in our minds.

Scripture tells us that Jesus is at work on our behalf in this heavenly sanctuary. The pattern for this sanctuary was given to Moses when he was leading the children of Israel out of Egypt. Gorgeous scarlet and blue curtains, golden embroidered angels, gold-covered pillars and elegant furnishings were part of the earthly sanctuary, a mere shadow of the one in heaven.

Yet it’s not God’s interior design that we are praising. It’s His acts of power on our behalf — His sacrifice on the cross, His blood that covers our sins, His complete provision for our salvation, all portrayed in the sanctuary services. Truly, our God is worthy to be praised.
