Hallmarks of God’s Love

God loves us so much that He wants to spend eternity with us. He is not wishing that anyone should perish (2 Peter 3:9). Love is the only reason why Jesus came. His life and death is the very definition of love. Now He lives and loves us forever!
God’s love allows Jesus to be revealed
John 14:21
One who has my commandments and keeps them, that person is one who loves me. One who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him, and will reveal myself to him.
God loves me like His own child
1 John 3:1
See how great a love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God! For this cause the world doesn’t know us, because it didn’t know him.
God’s love for me involved great sacrifice
1 John 4:10
In this is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son as the atoning sacrifice for our sins.
God disciplines those He loves
Hebrews 12:6
For whom the Lord loves, he disciplines, and chastises every son whom he receives.
God’s love is calming
Zephaniah 3:17
The LORD, your God, is among you, a mighty one who will save. He will rejoice over you with joy. He will calm you in his love. He will rejoice over you with singing.
God loves the righteous
Proverbs 15:9
The way of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD, but he loves him who follows after righteousness.
God’s love is everlasting
Jeremiah 31:3
The LORD appeared of old to me, saying, “Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love. Therefore I have drawn you with loving kindness.”
God loves His children freely
Hosea 14:4
I will heal their waywardness. I will love them freely; for my anger is turned away from him.
God’s love is eternal
John 3:16-17
For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God didn’t send his Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world should be saved through him.
God’s love gives me hope
Romans 5:5
And hope doesn’t disappoint us, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.
