“Cast all your worries on Him, because He cares for you,” the apostle Peter advises (1 Peter 5:7).
Our Lord does not want us to worry. Our food, our resources, our blessings, our very lives come from Him, and He has promised to supply us with everything we need.
“Which of you, by being anxious, can add one moment to your life?” Jesus asked (Matthew 6:27). He knew the answer: anxiety won’t save us or improve our lives. Only God can do so.
Almighty God can handle all my worries
Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time; casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you.
Kindness may be the antidote to worry and anxiety
Anxiety in a man’s heart weighs it down, but a kind word makes it glad.
Worry and fear run rampant at the end of time
There will be signs in the sun, moon, and stars; and on the earth anxiety of nations, in perplexity for the roaring of the sea and the waves; men fainting for fear, and for expectation of the things which are coming on the world: for the powers of the heavens will be shaken.
Worry will not keep challenges from coming upon me
For the thing which I fear comes on me, That which I am afraid of comes to me. I am not at ease, neither am I quiet, neither do I have rest; but trouble comes.
Prayer is stronger than worry
In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.
When worry keeps me up at night, I will cry out to God and He will hear me
My cry goes to God! Indeed, I cry to God for help, and for him to listen to me. In the day of my trouble I sought the Lord. My hand was stretched out in the night, and didn’t get tired. My soul refused to be comforted. I remember God, and I groan. I complain, and my spirit is overwhelmed. Selah.
With Jesus, I have no need to worry
I have told you these things, that in me you may have peace. In the world you have trouble; but cheer up! I have overcome the world.
I can count on God’s deliverance
Tell those who have a fearful heart, “Be strong! Don’t be afraid! Behold, your God will come with vengeance, God’s retribution. He will come and save you.”
Believing in Jesus keeps me from worrying
Don’t let your heart be troubled. Believe in God. Believe also in me.
When I am overwhelmed with worry, God comforts me
When I said, “My foot is slipping!” Your loving kindness, LORD, held me up. In the multitude of my thoughts within me, your comforts delight my soul.
Even suffering is not cause for worry; God continues to bless me
But even if you should suffer for righteousness’ sake, you are blessed. “Don’t fear what they fear, neither be troubled.”
