In 1672, Ferdinand Verbiest built a small steam-powered toy for the emperor of China. It was the world’s first vehicle.

One hundred years later, Nicolas-Joseph Cugnot built the first usable vehicle, a steam-powered contraption to haul cannons for the French army. But it was unstable on rough terrain and every 15 minutes had to be relit to keep working.

In the 1800s, the passenger-carrying car began to take form with experiments in hydrogen, steam and electricity. In 1875, the state of Wisconsin hosted a race to encourage the creation of a vehicle that would work better than a horse and cart. Electric automobiles were born. Then, in the early 1900s, they were replaced with cheaper gas-powered ones. The evolution of the automobile continued.

Today we are still mixing old ideas like hydrogen and rechargeable batteries.

It’s been 350 years! Humanity is still fine tuning an invention that’s used all over the world, every day.

Thousands of years ago, God made the first humans. Scripture says He declared His creation good. Every one of our billion parts, God built right, the first time with no adjustments and no need for upgrades. Nothing is too complicated for Him.
